Adventurous Walks For The Most Adventurous Of Dogs

With the second bank holiday of the month fast approaching and the weather warming up nicely, it’s the perfect time to get out and about to explore some exciting new dog walking routes for your pooch.
For the more adventurous breed of dogs, they’ll want an adventurous walk to match. There’s a whole host of places you can take your dog across the country to indulge his or her appetite for excitement, some of which are right on your doorstep!

On the cusp of the Peak District, Derby is perfectly picturesque all year-round, but especially as we head into summer. A great place to get started is the surrounding areas to Chatsworth, home to the beautiful Chatsworth House. Starting at a village such as Bakewell, you can take your pooch on a walk which offers plenty of green rolling hills to bound around, large grounds of a beautiful house (which you can enjoy, too), and a stop-off at a pub along the way for some well-deserved R&R. Most of the popular routes you’ll find around here are approximately seven miles long; the perfect way to spend a sunny bank holiday.

There’s also many peaks and edges which you can venture off to around Derbyshire, which means your dog will have hours of fun (and exercise!) exploring them while you take in the scenery. These are well worth the drive, too, so if you live in the surrounding area, why not make a day of it?

If you’re headed more up towards Manchester, around Stockport, you’ll find two stunning country parks situated within a few miles of the town: Etherow and Reddish Vale. Both feature beautiful scenery and water features such as waterfalls and rivers, too, so your dog can cool off on a warm day after wearing themselves out.

Travelling right down to Fareham, in the south, and you’ll be spoilt for choice with the various routes you can take. Whiteley Woods is a great place for you and your dog to explore, and Holly Hill also feels like a great work-out and adventure for your dog. If you want more open space for them to really release that energy, Hook Lake is vast and mostly flat, so they can run around to their heart’s content.
